Test mode and live mode
Build against the sandbox, then switch one address and one token to go live.
WeShipYou runs two copies of the API. Build and test against the sandbox, then switch to live when your integration works.
| Sandbox (test) | Live | |
|---|---|---|
| Address | https://sandbox.weshipyou.com/api/v1 | https://weshipyou.com/api/v1 |
| Users and accounts | A test copy of your live user and accounts | Your real users |
| Wallet | Sandbox balance, no real money | Your real wallet |
| Labels | Not charged to your live wallet | Charged to your wallet |
Getting a sandbox token
The sandbox has no passwords. Log in on live with "mode": "test" (POST https://weshipyou.com/api/v1/authentication) and the answer is a sandbox token. Each test login refreshes the sandbox copy of your user, your accounts and who is a member of which account; balances, payment methods and verification data are never copied. Every token has a livemode claim: true on a live token, false on a sandbox token.
Moving to live
- Change the base address from
sandbox.weshipyou.comtoweshipyou.com. - Log in on live to get a live token (see Authentication).
- Replace the sandbox account number with your live one (
GET /accounts).
Nothing else changes: the paths, the bodies and the answers are the same on both servers.
Try it in these docs
Every operation in the API reference has a Try it panel. It starts in Test and calls the sandbox. When you switch it to Live, every call that changes something asks for confirmation first, and a call that charges your wallet says so. The token you paste stays in the page's memory and is forgotten when you reload.
